Where People Live in Goochland
Centerville and Eastern Goochland
The eastern end of the county, around Centerville and the Route 288 corridor, is closest to Short Pump and the West End. This is where you'll find many of Goochland's newer neighborhoods, plus quick access to I-64 and Route 288.
Manakin-Sabot and the River Road Corridor
Along River Road and near Manakin-Sabot, homes tend to sit on larger lots, with some properties along the James River. Communities like Kinloch offer golf and larger custom homes.
Goochland Courthouse and Western Goochland
Farther west, around Goochland Courthouse, Crozier and Hadensville, the county is mostly rural. Expect acreage, farmland and a much quieter pace, with longer drives to shopping.
Schools
Goochland County Public Schools is a smaller district, with one high school, Goochland High School. Many families like the small-district feel. I always verify school zoning for a specific address before you write an offer.
Getting Around
- I-64 and Route 288 connect eastern Goochland to Short Pump in minutes.
- Downtown Richmond is usually 25 to 35 minutes from eastern Goochland, and longer from the western end.
- West Creek, home to a large Capital One campus, sits on the eastern side of the county.
- Fort Gregg-Adams is roughly an hour away, so Goochland is a better fit for military families stationed elsewhere or working remotely.
